Overview Regulation

As GTCNI grows into its new role as a regulator, the core values that underpin our commitment to the profession, also underpin our approach to regulation. This means our processes are not just fair and proportionate but also transparent, consistent and, above all else, professional.

Professional regulation is one of the key ways that GTCNI help to build and maintain public confidence and trust in the teaching profession in Northern Ireland – by ensuring the profession adheres to the highest standards of professional conduct.

Teachers can find details about how we manage referrals and the measures we take to protect public confidence in the profession from this section, including information on how we investigate and consider cases.

Employers can find out more about their legal responsibility in the Employers section of the website.

Members of the public, including parents, can find out more about how they can raise issues of concern about a teacher on the Making a Complaint.

If you have any questions you can talk to a member of the Regulation Team by phone: (028) 9033 3390 or email: regulation@gtcni.org.uk
